Are you an experienced Childcare Director who is ready for an opportunity to join one of Massachusetts’s premier social service agencies?  

Catholic Charities Boston – one of the largest social service non-profit organizations in Massachusetts – seeks a Director of Childcare Services to manage the day-to-day operation of the childcare center and the after-school program in Peabody. This role provides leadership and vision to all program staff and will establish and sustain a positive learning and working environment.

Major Responsibilities

  • Supervise all childcare staff including the after-school site coordinator, substitutes, transportation personnel, student interns and volunteers
  • Follow through with all agency directives, assigned tasks, and projects in a professional and positive manner
  • Establish a work environment that values teamwork and cooperation, and respects diversity of culture, beliefs, and values
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate program staff; communicate expectations for performance standards
  • Monitor and maintain enrollment and contract utilization, quality of program, licensing compliance and NAEYC accreditation
  • Report any needed repairs and maintenance to physical property department
  • Maintain open, consistent, and effective communication with parents and caregivers
  • Participate actively in creation of annual budget; responsible for performance to budget
  • Responsible for participating in the completion of responses to RFPs, audits, and reports required by funding agencies and awarded grants
  • Provide accurate and timely data and reports to the Agency
  • Responsible for following all established Agency policies and procedures
  • Manage personal professional development plan; staying current in the field through workshop/conference attendance, literature, and/or taking teaching courses, including 20 hours of professional development per year, as required by EEC, and documented in the PQ Registry

Preferred Qualifications

  • EEC Director II qualified required
  • 5+ years’ experience in childcare with 3+ years supervisory, administrative, and/or community organization preferred
  • Strong computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest standard of ethical conduct and professional responsibility, including maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to maintain emotional intelligence control under stress and work with frequent interruptions
  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Administration, or BA with master’s degree in progress a plus; additional experience may be considered in lieu of Master’s Degree
