Boston-based Pine Street Inn partners with individuals experiencing homelessness to help them move from the streets and shelter to a home and assists formerly unhoused individuals in retaining housing. They provide street outreach, emergency services, supportive housing, permanent housing, job training and connections to employment. Pine Street Inn (PSI) is seeking a Director of Organizational Development who will lead the strategic approach, design, and deployment of an organization-wide Learning Management process that will focus on developing team members, leaders, and executive leadership by focusing on individual and organizational needs.
Reporting to the Vice President of People and Culture, the role will serve as a thought partner and trusted senior advisor who will assess organizational needs and implement development programs that support PSI’s strategic plan, mission, and goals. The ideal candidate will be an inspiring leader who has created and implemented comprehensive training programs, led organizational development initiatives, and fostered a positive and inclusive culture.
Job Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a strategic learning and development plan aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives. Assess current learning needs and identify future employee development opportunities.
- Program Development: Design and oversee the creation of engaging and impactful training programs, including leadership development, technical skills, compliance, and soft skills training.
- Leadership: Manage and mentor the Learning and Development team. Provide guidance and support to ensure effective program delivery and team performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, department heads, and HR to identify training needs and align programs with organizational goals.
- Evaluation and Improvement: Implement mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs. Utilize feedback and data to improve training methods and outcomes.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the learning and development budget. Ensure efficient resource allocation and cost-effective program delivery.
- Vendor Management: Identify and manage relationships with external training vendors and consultants. Negotiate contracts and ensure the quality of outsourced training services.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in learning and development. Integrate innovative approaches and tools into training programs.
- Curriculum Design: Create and update training materials, manuals, and eLearning content.
- Compliance Training: Ensure all mandatory compliance training is conducted and documented by PSI’s policies and regulations.
- Retention Strategies: Engage employees and provide needed professional development and employee recognition systems.
- DEI Culture: Champion and promote PSI core values to drive employee morale and create a positive and inclusive workplace that attracts and retains top talent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of organizational development and effective adult training programs.
- Proven track record facilitating transformational change in an organization.
- Experience working in social services or education sectors.
- History of driving process improvement.
- Adept at project management managing complexity in scale and scope.
- Skilled communicator, collaborator and listener.
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field.
- Hybrid role – requires three days weekly in Boston office or in field (relocation offered).
