Are you ready to oversee a dedicated and passionate Housing Placement Team that provides direct support to individuals experiencing homelessness?

St. Francis House (SFH) rebuilds lives by providing refuge and pathways to stability for adults experiencing homelessness and poverty. They seek a Housing Placement Manager to lead the Housing Placement Team. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the program and providing direct support to clients when needed to ensure that individuals experiencing homelessness have pathways and supports needed to connect with permanent housing opportunities.

Using a Housing First, person-centered and trauma-informed approach, the Manager guides the team to serve those with the highest barriers to housing, ensuring that all services provided adhere to program and agency expectations. In collaboration with the Housing Leadership Team, the Manager develops program policies and guidelines; oversees program compliance with pertinent policies, laws, and regulations; measures program outcomes and deliverables; designs and creates various reports and tracking systems; and responds to inquiries from external organizations, agencies, and the City of Boston’s Office of Housing.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day oversight of department; interviews, selects, and trains staff; provides consistent supervision and support to direct reports in addressing immediate needs, meeting program goals and objectives, and managing staff
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of program activities including client matches through the Coordinated Access System, reducing housing barriers, creation of individualized housing plans, coordination of move-ins, and referrals to service providers
  • Collaborate with the Housing Leadership Team, to design, develop, and implement management practices and protocols of the Housing Placement Team
  • Intervene in complex cases and severe crises needing a supervisor
  • Provide direct services to assigned clients as needed
  • Document all services to assure accurate records are maintained
  • Provide input on the creation of the program’s budget
  • Work with leadership team to ensure timely reports are complete
  • Ensures program compliance in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and contractual requirements
  • Serve as liaison between the referral agencies, service providers and other stakeholders
  • Apply a Recovery Oriented, Person-Centered, and Trauma-Informed approach to programming and supervision
  • Available for on-call guidance, supervision, and emergency response on a rotating schedule with other housing team leaders

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of relevant work experience in human services setting serving vulnerable populations OR a Bachelor’s degree in humans services with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with homeless individuals providing street outreach, housing search, placement, and stabilization case management in a direct care or supervisory role
  • Proficient use of computers, basic Microsoft Office software and any other database software used to track work outputs and run reports
  • Supervisory experience with demonstrated skills in staff coaching, team building, and training
  • Knowledge of community resources such as housing options, behavioral health, and benefits and services for low-income, hard-to-reach, and vulnerable populations
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse persons and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate
  • Strong ability to effectively resolve and cope with immediate conflict and/or crisis situations
  • Knowledge of Boston Continuum of Care and Homeless Initiatives a plus
