Chief Revenue Officer

Are you a strategic, growth-minded revenue executive ready to own the full revenue engine for a national preK-12 core curriculum publisher?

Our client is a leading and well-established education organization providing a broad portfolio of instructional solutions and services to schools nationwide. They are committed to supporting educators, improving student outcomes, and helping school communities address evolving teaching and learning needs.

Our client is seeking a Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) to own enterprise-wide revenue strategy, execution, and performance across sales, and in close partnership with marketing and customer success. This executive will report to the CEO and serve on the senior leadership team, responsible for setting and delivering the company’s revenue growth agenda, building a scalable go-to-market organization, and ensuring disciplined forecasting and pipeline health across the full customer lifecycle. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, data-driven executive who brings deep K-12 core curriculum expertise, a track record of scaling national sales organizations, and the ability to align cross-functional teams around a unified revenue strategy.

Major Responsibilities

  • Own and drive enterprise-wide revenue strategy, aligning sales, marketing, and customer success around shared goals and a coordinated go-to-market motion
  • Build, lead, and scale a national sales organization, including regional sales leaders and account executives, to consistently deliver against revenue targets
  • Set pipeline, forecasting, and pricing strategy; instill forecast discipline and CRM rigor across the revenue organization
  • Build and strengthen relationships with state-level influencers, district superintendents, and key education decision-makers at the highest levels
  • Partner with the CEO, CFO, and executive team to set annual revenue targets, resource allocation, and long-term growth strategy
  • Oversee customer success and renewal/expansion strategy to maximize lifetime value and reduce churn across a broad K-12 solutions portfolio
  • Coach and develop sales leadership on consultative selling, complex district procurement, solution positioning, and competitive differentiation
  • Use data and market insight to identify revenue risk, improve productivity, and guide investment across regions and product lines
  • Monitor company-wide revenue performance against goals, reporting regularly to the CEO and board

Preferred Qualifications

  • Senior revenue leadership experience (CRO, EVP/SVP Sales, or equivalent) in K-12 core curriculum at a national scale
  • Proven track record scaling curriculum or instructional solutions sales across multiple regions, including California
  • Experience owning enterprise-wide revenue strategy, not just field execution – comfortable operating at both the board/executive level and in-market with district leaders
  • Genuine, credible understanding of the K-12 market and its challenges
  • Strong background in strategic planning, forecasting, pricing, and cross-functional go-to-market alignment (sales, marketing, customer success)
  • Experience building trusted relationships with senior district leaders, state officials, and internal executive stakeholders/board members
  • Executive presence with the ability to represent the company externally and internally at the highest levels
  • Remote executive role based in California with regular travel to customers, conferences, team meetings, and company events
